Description
It is a dark colour crystal with the oxidation state of iron with is +3. Ferric chloride is also called Iron(III) Chloride or Molysite. The molysite solution is colourless to light brown and has a faint HCL smell. It is non-combustible, corrosive to most metals and is widely used in sewage treatment snd water purification. Other areas of application for ferric chloride include: use in organic synthesis as a catalyst, use as a drying agent in some reactions in its anhydrous form, application in energy storage systems and in the treatment of overcropping animal claws especially when the overcropping leads to bleeding.
