Its appearance is a white or yellow fine powder which is odourless and tasteless. It is yellow in high temperatures and white on cooling and has a melting point of 1975 degrees Celcius (3587F). It is soluble in acid, ammonia water, ammonia salt solutions and concentrated hydroxide. The compound is also difficult to dissolve in water and ethanol.
It is widely applied in the ceramics industry as a glaze of brick and tiles, transparent glaze, translucent glaze of stoneware or flitted glaze of tableware and dish. It is thus an important chemical material flux of ceramics.
