Carbon Black is a form of elemental carbon, technically classified as a fine particle powder consisting of over 97% elemental carbon. It is produced by the incomplete combustion or thermal decomposition of heavy petroleum products such as coal tar or ethylene cracking tar. Technical Grade Carbon Black is characterized by its extremely fine particle size (nanometer-scale aggregates), high surface area, and deep black color. It serves primarily as a reinforcing filler and pigment. While it is indispensable in industrial applications like tire manufacturing and plastics, it is not intended for applications with direct food contact or in pharmaceuticals due to potential polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content. It is a cornerstone material in the rubber, plastics, printing, coatings, and construction industries.
