Sika MonoTop Primer & Corrosion Protection
Sika MonoTop Primer & Corrosion Protection is a cementitious, polymer-modified, zinc-free, one-component coating designed to act as both a bonding primer for concrete repair mortars and as a corrosion protection system for reinforcing steel. It provides excellent adhesion to steel and concrete, forming a protective barrier against moisture, chlorides, and carbon dioxide, which can lead to corrosion. This product is an essential component in the Sika MonoTop concrete repair system, improving the durability and performance of concrete repairs in structural and non-structural applications.
Uses
Primary Uses
Concrete Repair & Structural Rehabilitation
- Applied to exposed steel reinforcement to provide long-term corrosion protection before patch repair.
- Used as a bonding bridge between existing concrete and repair mortars in concrete restoration.
- Enhances adhesion and compatibility of repair mortars such as Sika MonoTop systems.
- Prevents corrosion in repair applications on facades, bridges, parking structures, tunnels, and piers.
Infrastructure Maintenance
- Corrosion protection in bridge decks, retaining walls, and marine concrete elements.
- Used in transportation infrastructure such as highways and tunnels undergoing concrete rehabilitation.
Industrial & Commercial Buildings
- Applied in repair projects for concrete columns, beams, and slabs in commercial and industrial facilities.
Secondary Uses
Historical & Heritage Restoration
- Applied during conservation of historical structures to prevent rebar corrosion while maintaining structural integrity.
Marine Structures
- Used for reinforcement protection in repairs on docks, jetties, and offshore platforms exposed to aggressive saline conditions.
Precast Concrete Plants
- As a corrosion-inhibiting primer in the repair of precast elements before patching or coating.
